Research Activities
There are completed as well as, on-going research projects in the farm involving students and faculty of the Biology Department, De La Salle University, Taft, and BS Agriculture students. The Salikneta farm is a sanctuary to a variety of plants, crops and animals including livestock. Their survival and productivity can be influenced by how they interact with each other alongside the effect of abiotic factors. The conduct of research in the farm constitutes an indispensable component of student training/learning. Likewise, the information generated from research activities are valuable inputs to farm management vis-à-vis farm productivity.
Researches and Other-Farm Related Activities/Projects
On-going
- Studies on the influence of supplementation of commercial feed with edible greens available in the farm on the egg quality and productivity of layers. This research also aims to ascertain the benefit of the use of green supplementation on reducing the cost of commercial feed, and its sustainability.
- Cultivation of edible species of mushroom using farm plant wastes (dried banana leaves, twigs) as growth media/beds
- Construction of nursery houses for agronomic and horticultural crops
- Establishment of experimental sites for intercrops
- Trying our different methods of composting farm wastes
- Started cultivating different species of herbs and spices.
